An adventure in roleplay

You are in a small log cabin. From outside you can hear the sound of very heavy rain though there is no thunder and the only curtained window in the cabin shows no signs of lightning outside. A small fire burns on the opposite side of the cabin from you in a small brick fireplace. On the wall hangs a very heavy looking raincoat and a pair of swamp pants (rubber lined pants that go up to your chest and are held up with suspenders) a pair of heavy rain-boots sit under them. There is a wooden chest in the room next to the boots. You are wearing a black golf shirt and beige khakis with empty pockets.
What do you do?

>Examine wooden chest

The chest contains two road flares, a compass, a small tin of liquid fire starter fuel, a water canteen, a few dry provisions (nuts, crackers, dried fruit, etc) and a 3.5 inch survival blade.

>Take all items

The pants pockets are not enough to hold all the items

>Take blade and canteen and hope to get lucky and roll a 20
