Hot on the trails of that Short Thank You to Hasbro project that's creating an ad to air on the Hub, is this project by none other than Discord himself.

BronyCon: The Documentary

Basically, John de Lancie recently stated that he did not like how the community was being portrayed by large and announced that he would be heading up a documentary project in order to highlight the fandom and set the record straight on many misconceptions. This morning I was checking EQD during breakfast and ran across their post about the Kickstarter. They're seeking to raise $60k and just since 0630 t0 0930, there have been over $12k in donations. The introduction video is also very positive about the message the producers want to send to the public. I don't know anything about the other members of the team, but having been backed by a VA, I'll be lending my support to this project. Some of the incentives are also pretty sweet too. This really makes me regret not being able to attend any of the Cons. Maybe next year, after I'm back in the States.

I wish there were some decent European Cons Sad

What if this is just Discord trolling us and its just a 3 hour loop of him dancing on a pile of money? Shocked

But yeah, i'll probably donate too Very Happy

I'd love to, but have no money to spare... :/ Although me being maybe an hour and a half from the Meadowlands I have been seriously thinking of hitting BronyCon.... we shall see.

I was checking out the BronyCon documentary fundraising page today; and I see that within only days of starting they are almost at their 60K minimum that was to be required to make the documentary.

Makes one wonder how large a total the fundraiser is going to be at when it ends in another 24 days!

More money = better documentary, so I hope the total pleges keep going up; I personally will probably donate 30$ as that will get you a complementary copy of the documentary when it is finished (and you name in the credits!); and as that is pretty much the price for a DVD purchase nowdays anyways, I think it is certainly worth it.

I certainly look forward to seeing the documentary when it is finished bounce

Well, here it is only a few days into the start of the funding and not only have they reached their goal, but as of now they're abouot $3k over. And some crazy fellas hit both the $5k and $10k donation values! As we spread out further into mainstream society, I can see this doing a lot to dispell some of the misconceptions surrounding our fair community. My hope is that people view the end result with open minds and that the "Thank You" project compliments the message well enough that the two don't end up on up opposite sides of the spectrum. Unfortunately, there's just as much room for things to go south as there is for them to make an improvement. Here's to keeping our fingers, or hooves, crossed.
