The Crystalline entity
If you are here then you have likely either gotten drawn into one of these suicidal death traps by a psychopath who giggles like pinkie pie or been subject to trollestia's pranks. This is where we strategize as to how we shall destroy this monstrosity of a mission that has plagued every waking moment of our lives. So here we stand the last bastion of hope in these dark days (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBYrMEW9-Rw). Will we stand victorious next time we meet this foul foe? Or will we fall to its endless horde of blue minions?
Strategize!

Re: The Crystalline entity
My thoughts exactly but we need to plan find a time that works for as many ponies as possible and we need to strategize as to how we are going to kill it we need to make a tally of what ships we each have that are battle ready.
Me:
Dreadnought (it can be a beam ship but it can't turn worth a damn)
Assault cruiser (Beam boat good ship)
Fleet escort (Cannon ship though I have been working on a way to refit it as a beam boat)

Re: The Crystalline entity
In my one graviton carriar I was able to delay numerous small crystals from healing the entitiy. If we had 3 graviton ships it would be enough to repuls/gravwell all the crystals so that ANY set of ships could potientially kill it. but it would requrire dedicated graviton users... with both grav well and repulsers.

Tac char:
Fleet Escort: Plasma-Disruptor DHCs and Disruptor Turrets
Sci char:
Nebula: Plasma-Disruptor beam boat
Recon that I can turn into a beam boat too.
Engie:
Galaxy Retro: Phaser beam boat that turns like an escort. (Just need to get the CE to kill my saucer early on...)
Thought I should list the classes for the chars too, Captain skill/buffs (eg: The Sci's sensor scan is a great debuff against the CE) and all that.

Re: The Crystalline entity
Anyone else think it would've been better if battling a Borg cube was more like this? Not the tedious "someone did something wrong and the battle is reset again" part, but this massive enemy that takes a whole fleet to take down. I would've loved that because it would be like the battle from First Contact. :3
That said, here are a few things you should keep in mind when doing this.
1) Keep your distance (near the edge of your firing range) as much as you can.
2) Avoid destroying the large fragments when they're still close to the CE. Maybe get its attention with a phaser burst and lure it away.
3a) Don't use mines, gravity wells, or those slow/targetable torpedoes near the CE, as Large Fragments will hit them, and explode closer than you want them to.
3b) If you really want to use AoE (mines / gravity well), place them a good distance away, and players can pull the Large Fragments to them.
4) Whenever you see small fragments, drop everything and destroy them. After all, the battle ultimately revolves around how many you stop from returning to the CE.

Re: The Crystalline entity
I am only in my low 20's so I wouldn't make much of a dent, overall. On the other hand, I could still be a help with destroying the small fragments; they're quite weak and they were fairly easy to destroy, even with my limited firepower.

Re: The Crystalline entity
If you want to join the fight as a beam/cannon boat, that's fine, but don't do it just because you think you have to.
Regular torpedoes are fine, and don't make any difference. The only things you need to avoid are the slow-moving targetable torpedoes (e.g. Plasma Torpedoes and Tricobalt Devices), and anything else that's treated as a targetable object.
