With a little sad at the end
We seem to have an interest in sad stories or stories with a sad ending or epilogue. Post away my little ponies.
Re: With a little sad at the end
*reading The End of Ponies*
*finishes chapter 3 and starts chapter 4*
"I don't see what Light Shine was going on about. Okay, so it's a depressing setting, but the writing style is fantastic and it really draws the reader into the scene. This feels more like an Adventure fic instead of a Sad fic."
*halfway through chapter 4*
"Okay, that's a little more on the Sad side, but the action really drives a wedge between the two emotional settings here and overpowers the depression with desperate panic. Still not getting why he couldn't finish this."
*finishes chapter 4*
"She's who, and found... I-" *slight sniffle* I...think I'm starting to understand what he meant."
*starts chapter 5*
"Have to press on and see if it gets any better."

Re: With a little sad at the end
I think the thing that broke me about the End of Ponies was who the main character was. That and the whole being alone thing struck some sort of chord and nearly caused an existential breakdown. It also could have been that I chose to read this story the week before finals when I had 2 papers and a presentation due...

Re: With a little sad at the end
Just finished chapter 11 of "End of Ponies." Gonna press on with 12 for another hour. I'm really liking the general story but the descriptions are getting laid on a bit too thick for my tastes, and the dialogue feels stiff and way different from the patterns you hear in the show. Light Shine, I don't know how how far you made it before stopping but so far, it doesn't get "better" but it does get easier. Or that could just be me.
Re: With a little sad at the end
I'm about 2/3 the way through Chapter 15 of "End of Ponies" and, let me say, if you want to shed a few manly tears of bittersweetness (or not so manly) then read this chapter at least up to the point about the main character walking down the steps in the middle of the night to whisper something to another character. You'll be lost concerning the rest of the action taking place, but the buildup during the flashbacks are essential to understanding this one particular scene. Trust me. Heart in throat moment with a shipmate next me, unawares as to why I was smiling so broadly.
Re: With a little sad at the end
Most definitely. I just finished the chapter and there's a reason why it's called "Everlove." Absolutely beautiful ending.
